Biography 簡歷
Dr. Bi is Chief Scientist of China Telecom and CTO of China Telecom Research Institute, with responsibilities in corporate strategy, R&D projects planning, and forward-looking directions. His specialty is in wireless including 5G and 6G innovations related to technologies, standards, and trials in China Telecom.
Dr. Bi worked at Bell Labs for 20+ years and was awarded the prestigious Bell Labs Fellow in 2002. Other awards included Bell Labs President’s Gold Awards in 2000 & 2002, the Bell Labs Innovation Team Award in 2003, and Asian American Engineer of the Year in 2005. He is an IEEE Fellow and served as a member of the IEEE Fellow Evaluation Committee of the communication society between 2017 and 2019.
Dr. Bireceived his M.S. from Shanghai Jiao Tong University and Ph.D. from Pennsylvania State University. He holds 47 US patents, 63 European patents and 100+ Chinese patents. While in China Telecom, his 4G innovation project led to a large-scale commercial deployment and won the GTB Innovation Award at London in 2014. For his impressive contributions, he was given “Outstanding Contribution Award for Innovation and Entrepreneurship from Oversea Scholars” by Beijing City in 2019. He was also awarded three national silver patent medals by the China National Intellectual Property Administration from 2022 to 2024.
畢院士是中國電信集團首席科學家，中國電信研究院專家委員會主任，無線通訊領域專家，負責中國電信的無線戰略，研究院的科研方向，5G和6G的技術演進，及低空經濟領域的工作。
職業經歷：
– 貝爾實驗室（1988-2010）：工作20餘年，2002年成為第一位，也是至今唯一的來自大陸的貝爾實驗室院士(Bell Labs Fellow)。此外，畢奇院士還是國際電機電子工程師學會（IEEE Fellow）的會士。
– 中國電信（2010至今）：
o 歷任北京研究院總工程師、首席專家，主導“藍極光計畫”等4G/5G項目。
o 推動5G/6G技術演進、低空經濟與5G融合應用，參與國際標準制定（3GPP）。
榮譽與獎項：
畢院士于1996年連續兩年獲貝爾實驗室高技術部優異獎。於2000年及2002年，兩次獲貝爾實驗室總裁金質獎。于2003年獲貝爾實驗室基礎科學研究部最佳創新團隊獎。2005年獲全美亞裔最佳工程師獎。2014年獲倫敦GTB創新獎。2017-2019年為IEEE Fellow評審委員。
畢奇院士在上海交通大學就讀本科及碩士學位，在美國賓州州立大學獲博士學位。歷獲47項美國國家專利，63項歐洲專利。2010年來華後，已授權專利100多項。他在中國電信主持科研期間，榮獲6個行業或集團獎項。他的4G多天線專案，成功大規模部署，產生了明顯的經濟效益，並於2014年在倫敦獲“全球GTB通信商務創新獎”。由於他的卓越貢獻，於2019年獲北京市政府頒發的“留學人員創新創業特別貢獻獎”。此外，他的3項專利還在2022-2024年年薪三年獲國家智慧財產權局頒發的專利銀獎。
