Professor Joseph Hun-wei Lee, an internationally renowned and acclaimed scholar in the field of environmental hydraulics, is currently Vice-Chancellor and President of Macau University of Science and Technology (M.U.S.T.). He has previously served as the President of the International Association for Hydro-environment Engineering and Research (IAHR), Vice-President at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST), Pro-Vice-Chancellor and Vice-President at the University of Hong Kong (HKU). He is the founding editor-in-chief of the Journal of Hydro-environment Research, and the past Chairman of the Hong Kong Public Policy Research Funding Scheme and the Hong Kong Research Grants Council. Professor Lee has received many awards for his research on environmental hydraulics. These include the ASCE Hunter Rouse Hydraulic Engineering Award, the China State Scientific and Technological Progress Award, and the 2024 Prince Sultan Bin Abdulaziz International Prize for Water.
