Dear Presenters and Participants,
We look forward to welcoming you to Hong Kong and The Hong Kong Polytechnic University for AIinLT 2026. We are here to provide some basic information for your reference to facilitate your travel to PolyU.
1. Personal QR code for Campus Access
Prior to the event, you will receive a Personal QR code for Campus Access. You will need present it for:
- Scanning in and out of PolyU campus during the event dates at the security checkpoint (turnstiles)
We recommend that you save this QR code to your phone album ahead of time. Otherwise, mind that you may have to use data roaming to retrieve the code in your mailbox. Alternatively, you may also print a hard copy of the code.
2. Here are a few reminders to take note before your arrival:
Travelling to PolyU:
Our campus is centrally located in Hung Hom, conveniently connected to various districts of Hong Kong by public transportation including the MTR (Hong Kong's metro system), buses, ferries and taxis. If you choose to travel to PolyU by MTR, exit at Hung Hom station and use Exit A.
Plan your journey ahead of time using the Trip Planner feature on the MTR website or the MTR app.
If you travel directly from the Hong Kong International Airport:
(i) By Bus A25 (~HK$40.8) or A21 (~HK$34.6) - Least transfers and cheapest
Direct bus service from the Airport to Hung Hom Station
Journey time ranging from 65 minutes (A25) to 85 minutes (A21) without traffic congestion
Credit Cards (Contactless) accepted on board
(ii) By Airport Express and other MTR services (~HK$65 to Tsing Yi and ~HK$100 to Kowloon) - Express train service from the Airport
Change at Tsing Yi for the Tung Chung Line, then to the Tuen Ma Line at Nam Cheong, travel all the way to Hung Hom
Journey time: 50 minutes
You can purchase a ticket using a Credit Card at Airport Express Customer Service Centres. When changing to other MTR lines, you can tap in and out of the system using a Contactless Credit Card at gates coloured in light blue.
Alternatively, you can also exit at Kowloon station and hail a taxi at the designated pick up point (cf. below).
(iii) By Taxi - Fast and without the hassle of carrying your luggage around
From Airport to PolyU, prices range from ~HK$300-350. From Kowloon Station to PolyU, prices range from ~HK$50-70. Passengers should note that extra charges apply for large baggage, and both toll and return toll must be paid for cross-harbour trips.
Show the taxi driver the destination: PolyU Campus (紅磡 香港理工大學).
Journey time: less than 1 hour from the Airport and less than 20 minutes from Kowloon Station without traffic congestion
Note that many taxis only accept cash (Hong Kong dollars). To pay with Credit Cards, consider using mobile APPs like "Uber" (Uber Taxi service) and "AMAP Taxi 高德打車" which are legal online taxi booking services in Hong Kong.
Campus Entry:
If you choose to travel by the MTR, upon leaving Exit A of Hung Hom station, you will have to cross a pedestrian footbridge.
You will then arrive at the security check point and turnstiles.
Upon entry, you are on the podium level. Follow signs to reach the event venues.

Wi-Fi and Presentations:
Free guest Wi-Fi (SSID: Wi-Fi.HK via PolyU) is available in the entire campus. You may be required to login again upon the end of each 2-hour session.
Presenters should keep their presentation file(s) on a USB drive and keep a backup copy where appropriate.
Other Useful Information
Time zone
Hong Kong operates on GMT+8, meaning it is eight hours ahead of Greenwich Mean Time.
Power and electricity
Hong Kong’s standard electrical voltage is 220V AC at 50Hz, utilizing the British three-pin rectangular blade plug.

Octopus Card
The Octopus Card is a contactless, rechargeable payment card that works for public transport across Hong Kong and is also accepted at many local shops and restaurants. You can obtain a physical on-loan Octopus Card at any Customer Service Centre in the MTR network (charges apply, please check out this page). You may even open a new Card using Apple Pay or Huawei Pay without having to present a physical card, for details, please refer to the Octopus website.
Travel visas
Nationals of about 170 countries and territories may visit Hong Kong without a visa/entry permit for a period ranging from 7 days to 180 days. For more information on visa/entry permit requirements for visitors to the HKSAR, please refer to the website of the Immigration Department.
Insurance
The organisers are not liable for incidents such as lost belongings, flight cancellations, or medical expenses due to injury or illness. Participants are strongly advised to secure travel insurance before departing from their home countries.
