Short-Course 2
Dr Ickpyo HONG
Yonsei University
Topic:Methodologies for Secondary Data Analysis in Rehabilitation Sciences
Abstract: This short course introduces methodologies for secondary data analysis in rehabilitation sciences, tailored for clinicians, graduate students, and researchers. Participants will learn to identify and access secondary data sources, including national survey data, claims data, and electronic health records. The course covers key research methodologies, such as regression analysis, propensity score matching, path analysis, and structural equation modeling, with practical applications in rehabilitation research. Through interactive discussions and case studies, attendees will gain skills in formulating research questions, selecting appropriate analytical techniques, and interpreting results to address clinical and scientific inquiries. Emphasis will be placed on leveraging these methods to explore outcomes in rehabilitation, such as functional recovery and quality of life. By the end, participants will be equipped to conduct robust secondary data analyses, enhancing evidence-based practice and research in rehabilitation sciences.

Workshop 3
Prof. Linda LI
The University of British Columbia
Topic: Knowledge Transfer & Implementation Science 101
Abstract: Bridging the gap between physiotherapy research and clinical practice requires both structured implementation approaches and meaningful patient engagement. Implementation science provides tools to understand barriers, select strategies, and evaluate outcomes, while patient partnership ensures research is relevant, acceptable, and sustainable. This interactive workshop introduces participants to implementation science principles and practical methods for engaging patient partners. Core concepts and frameworks will be covered, with small-group activities and case-based exercises for participants to map barriers, select implementation strategies, and plan outcomes. Participants will gain foundational knowledge, ready-to-use tools, and concrete next steps to integrate implementation science and patient engagement into their research.

Workshop 4
Prof. Maritta Välimäki
University of Helsinki
Topic: Integrating Primary Health Care and Rehabilitation: A Holistic Approach for the Aging Population in Finland
Abstract: Focus on the integration of primary health care services with rehabilitation to address the needs of an aging population, emphasizing continuity of care and community-based services. In Finland, the aging population presents new challenges to the healthcare system, highlighting the need to integrate primary health care and rehabilitation services. This approach aims to provide holistic care that addresses the complex healthcare needs of the elderly. Integration promotes continuity of care, which is essential for the well-being of older adults. Community-based services play a crucial role, as they support the elderly in living independent and active lives in their own homes. Utilizing technology, such as telehealth and telemedicine, can enhance the accessibility and quality of services. Successful integration models offer valuable examples and lessons that can be applied internationally, fostering collaboration and knowledge exchange to meet the needs of aging populations. In this workshop, we will discuss Finland's primary health care service practices and their applicability in global primary healthcare and rehabilitation services.

Workshop 5
Prof. Kenneth FONG & Prof. Georg KRANZ
The Hong Kong Polytechnic University
Topic:Recent Advances in Non-Invasive Brain Stimulation
Abstract: This interactive pre conference workshop offers a comprehensive introduction to non invasive brain stimulation (NIBS) and its expanding role in neuropsychiatric rehabilitation and clinical research. Participants will gain foundational knowledge of key NIBS modalities, including transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) and transcranial electrical stimulation (tES) variants (tDCS, tACS, RNS, transcranial interference stimulation). Through a blend of expert presentations, live demonstrations, and hands on practice, attendees will explore mechanisms of action, safety considerations, and evidence based applications across neurological and psychiatric domains. The program will also address future directions such as personalization and home based devices. The workshop will equip participants with both conceptual understanding and practical skills to integrate NIBS techniques into their own work.
