CHINA MARITIME INSTITUTE (TAIWAN) (中華航運學會) The China Maritime Institute (CMI), a non-profit Taiwanese organization, was established on July 11, 1962 by Professor Kuang Wang and other senior maritime practitioners. The Institute has clear purposes to support the maritime industry by developing maritime businesses, researching maritime technology, advancing maritime knowledge, and promoting marine construction. The current chairman is Professor Chin-Shan Lu. The Institute provides superior education, training, research, and consultancy; organizes conferences, and publishes journals to support maritime communities and government. Special session theme/ topicSpecial session 1: Container Shipping and Port Efficiency This session focuses on the issues of container shipping and port efficiency. An oligopolistic economics model and Container Shipping Market Fear Index are proposed to explain the competitiveness and returns of the global container shipping industry, respectively. In addition, this session will present the impacts of port relationship marketing practices on container port’s relationship quality, brand image, and customer loyalty. An assessment of efficiency for airport operations also will be demonstrated in this session. Special session 2: Green Shipping Policy and Transport Technology This session presents the issues of green shipping policies and transport technology. The presenters will elaborate the reciprocal impact of green shipping policies on various industries in Taiwan, the antecedents of digital transformation, factors influencing the adoption of green transport based on the case of shared E-scooter, and the factors affecting the adoption of maritime autonomous surface ship in ferry services. In particular, this session also will address the adjustments and improvement approaches for marine safety investigation. |

Special session theme/ topicSpecial session 3: Smart Port Groups How to improve performance of a port group is a pressing issue we often face in operating a port group from a regional, national or global perspective. This special issue would like to invite those working on this topic to join us to share their latest thoughts or research output. It is expected that this interaction will make us gain a richer understanding of operations and mamagement of port groups and identify smarter ways to operate and manage a port group. |
