Abstract
This study investigates the process of a staff and students co-creation initiative in a Tibetan art community. It examines how this approach enhances service-learning by facilitating hands-on experiences and promoting reciprocal benefits between students, educators, and the local community. Through active participation and reflection, students engage with local artistic traditions, bringing local minority community to cosmopolitan community as well as enhancing pedagogical partnership. The research explores perceptions of this educational partnership, its impact on local artistic culture interpretation, and the educational contributions to the community, offering insights into improving service-learning practices in multicultural settings.

Abstract
Since the turn of the century, a compelling amount of empirical data has shown the value of Self-Determination Theory (SDT) in understanding how to foster optimal motivational states and how this results in higher quality behavioural outcomes. SDT has flourished in the field of education with teaching practices that support the basic needs of autonomy, competence, and relatedness shown to elicit more favourable educational outcomes. Surprisingly, SDT has received little attention in the field of Service-Learning (SL). The present paper considers the potential value of SDT to the field of SL from the perspectives of student learning and community partnerships.

Abstract
This talk explores the identification and intervention of a hidden problem in GK Pangarap Village, Siargao Island, Mindanao—smoke pollution from cooking with firewood. We uncovered the detrimental effects on health, economy, and time efficiency through a two-week community immersion, ethnographic fieldwork, and guided reflection. This presentation highlights the introduction of a less-smoke wood fire stove, aiming to improve residents' well-being, reduce health risks, and enhance productivity.

Abstract
The Community Engagement Programme in Singapore University of Social Sciences (SUSS) empowered SUSS students to utilise a place-based learning approach to engage communities in learning about Singapore’s natural environment. Students first learn about the local natural environment and wildlife and work with Active Ageing Centres to plan and execute nature guided walks for the elderly. This has led to a mutually beneficial outcome where students are empowered to build connections and be more active in community education. At the same time, intergenerational bonds were forged through service-learning initiatives.

Abstract
The current study aims to explore the effectiveness of 360° videos in enhancing students’ preparedness for service-learning activities. Three 360° videos have been filmed and used in pre-service workshops of two service-learning subjects. It is hypothesized that the use of 360° videos will lead to a reduction in pre-service anxiety, an improved understanding of emotionality, enhanced cognitive empathy, and increased perceived preparedness among students. Pre-post questionnaires and a focus group interview were conducted to measure participants’ subjective changes. Preliminary data from a pilot study is included in the current proposal, more results will be available in Oct 2024.
