About the Tour

Embark on an exhilarating voyage with Singapore Maritime Discoveries, an initiative by the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) in collaboration with MPA's official tour operator, Lion Heartlanders. This initiative aims not only to uncover the past but also to reveal the boundless potential and exciting possibilities shaping the future of the maritime industry. The theme of the tour is titled 'Maritime Tomorrow' and it includes a visit to the Singapore Maritime Gallery (SMG) and the Port Operations Control Centre (POCC).

Explore Singapore’s rich maritime heritage, discover the vital link between the maritime industry and our daily lives, and witness how Singapore continues to thrive as a global hub port and international maritime center. Learn about the new technologies propelling Singapore to world-class status, ensuring future readiness while keeping a keen eye on our environmental impact.

MPA's POCC serves as the operational headquarters for a maritime search and rescue region covering both the island of Singapore and over 1 million square kilometers of the South China Sea. The POCC operates a shore-based Global Maritime Distress and Safety System (GMDSS) facility to monitor distress alerts and calls from ships and coordinate SAR operations. It also disseminates Maritime Safety Information (MSI) through VHF, NAVTEX, and SafetyNET systems. The tour will include an introduction to the role of the POCC’s operators, facilities, and technologies that ensure the smooth and safe sailing of ships in this region.
